The Challenge

Virgin Money is a financial services business that does things differently.

After a period of rapid growth and reorganization, the company needed to rethink its approach to employee development. The content and technical capability of its learning platform had to come up to speed with employee aspirations.

Virgin Money wanted a modern and agile online learning solution. One with a personalized, tailored approach to development.

The new digital platform had to:

  • Flex and be able to evolve with business changes
  • Support employees across different roles and levels of responsibility
  • ‘Pull’ rather than ‘push’ learners

The Solution

We worked with Virgin Money to create Your Learning Lounge – a customized, branded version of our toolkit. Together, we mapped content around key Virgin Money touchpoints.

Customized sections speak directly to learners in lingo they recognize.

  • Arrivals and Passport Modules support new employees through onboarding and induction. The section includes information on new starter events, e-learning modules and welcome videos.
  • Everyone’s Better Off is Virgin Money’s company ethos. It’s about using expertise to have a positive impact on colleagues, customers, corporate partners, the company and community. Over 100 pieces of curated content support this behavioral and skills framework.
  • Me in My Career showcases 20 Day in the Life stories from people working in key roles across the organization. It has a heat map, where employees can identify their development needs for key roles, and quickly find content to address them.

The Results

Since launch in 2016, Your Learning Lounge has fast become the go-to destination for Virgin Money employees.

Proof points

  • 90% of employees have accessed the toolkit since launch
  • Over 20,000 individual resources viewed
  • Employees spend around four minutes per session
